Seagate Technology LLC is hiring more than 100 new employees for its Longmont location, including engineers, quality/reliability product-line managers, marketers and other nontechnical positions.

The company is expanding as a result of growth in areas for which it designs hard drives, such as personal computers and consumer electronics. Seagate is also expanding its products with features like drives that can operate in extreme environments and drives that consume less power and make less noise.

Many of the jobs are posted online, and the company will hold a job fair Dec. 8 from 9 a.m. to noon at its offices at 389 Disc Drive in Longmont.

The new jobs represent one of the largest hiring sprees the company has held here in recent years. The Scotts Valley, Calif.-based company has about 1,600 employees in Longmont and more than 50,000 companywide. When Seagate acquired Maxtor Corp. last year, it announced it was cutting 650 workers at Maxtor’s Longmont campus.
