DENVER—Although Colorado ski resorts are getting some of the snow they desperately need it is making travel dangerous in many mountain areas.
Even on the prairie there were a series of accidents that closed some roads. One man was killed this morning in a crash north of Wellington on I-25 that closed the road for several hours.
At mid-day the National Weather Service said conditions had mostly improved at lower elevations but some snow was continuing in the mountains.
It dropped some winter storm warnings even for the mountains. But they remained in effect in the south, where wind gusts could make visibility difficult.
A World Cup Super G race scheduled for today in Beaver Creek has been postponed due to heavy snow.
People headed to the mountains should check with the Colorado Department of Transportation Web site for updated information.
