NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Pitcher Aaron Cook and the Colorado Rockies were near an agreement Wednesday on a three-year contract worth $30 million.

“It’s close, but there are still issues to be worked out,” agent Joe Bick said. “There’s not a deal yet.”

Cook was 8-7 with a 4.12 ERA in 25 starts last season for the Rockies, who reached the World Series for the first time. The right-hander, who will be 29 next season, started Game 4 of the World Series as Boston swept the Rockies. He had not pitched in a major league game since Aug. 10 because of a strained side muscle.

A few years ago, Cook’s career was interrupted because of blood clots in his lungs. He was Colorado’s opening-day starter this season.
