Friday. Art exhibit. The art of Sheng-Piao Kiang will be on display today at The Palace Chinese Restaurant. Sheng-Piao, 91, has been out of the public eye for more than a decade and brings previously unseen works of Chinese art to the show. The Asian Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the exhibit. Sunday.Holiday music. As many carols make clear, few things are more associated with Christmas than bells. The University of Denver will present its annual holiday carillon concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, with Todd Fair at the keyboard. The university’s Williams Carillon contains 65 bronze bells from a foundry in the Netherlands, the largest weighing 6 tons. The carillon is in the Ritchie Center at Buchtel and South University boulevards. The recommended open-air listening area is between the Williams Tower and Stapleton Tennis Pavilion. Thursday.Jazz.Claude Sim, associate concertmaster of the Colorado Symphony, is usually seen on the stage of Boettcher Concert Hall in white tie and tails. But once a year, he switches musical settings, joining a jazz trio for an evening of standards. “Although the symphony is my day job, jazz is a passion of mine,” the violinist says.
