LITTLETON, Colo.—Railroad crews are working to clear coal and other debris from tracks where a freight train and a light-rail train collided in Littleton.
Regional Transportation District spokeswoman Daria Serna said Wednesday the cleanup is proceeding but they still need to move freight cars.
She says the morning commute went fairly well for commuters affected by the closure.
The RTD light-rail passenger train jumped the tracks after 25 cars on a coal train on parallel tracks derailed Tuesday during a snowstorm.
No injuries were reported. Union Pacific officials are trying to determine what caused the derailment.
Serna says RTD crews have to inspect tracks and adjacent equipment once the debris is cleared before they can decide when light-rail service will resume.
