ASPEN — Former Police Chief Loren Ryerson is now a member of the ski patrol at Snowmass ski area.
Ryerson resigned as chief last month after an investigation into allegations that he sexually harassed female employees.
The city’s insurance carrier, the Colorado Intergovernmental Risk Sharing Agency, found that Ryerson may have acted inappropriately but his actions did not rise to the level requiring severe disciplinary action.
Ryerson was offered his job back but stepped down, leaving acting Police Chief Richard Pryor in charge.
Aspen Skiing Co. spokesman Jeff Hanle said the company did not consider the reason Ryerson left the police department when hiring him this month.
Ryerson worked on the patrol more than a decade ago. For the past few years, he has been an on-mountain ambassador, answering questions and handing out cookies.
“He had an exemplary record on patrol,” said Hanle. “He has an exemplary record as an ambassador the last few years. He applied, was well-qualified, and so he was hired.”
