Comedy Works will meet new challenges in 2008, with growing competition from the recently opened Improv at Northfield Stapleton and a high- stakes restaurant/bar/venue opening in Greenwood Village in the coming months. To kick off 2008, the club is offering a free show from Chelsea Handler on Sunday and a regular show from “Last Comic Standing” season 4 champ and Denver native Josh Blue on Tuesday. Tickets are on sale now. (various prices, )

The New York Dolls staged one of the more rickety comebacks last year, playing festivals and releasing a new disc to protect their legacy as punk forefathers. Tab Benoit and Louisiana’s LeRoux will bring their blues-rock to Rollinsville’s Stage Stop (Feb. 1), Herman’s Hideaway (Feb. 2), the Little Bear Saloon (Feb. 4) and Winter Park’s Smokin’ Moe’s (Feb. 5). Tickets are on sale now. (various prices, )

Enon’s evolution from Brainiac-bred spazz anthems to hipster dance-rock has been so gradual and organic that few fans groused — or even noticed. The Brooklyn/Philly trio will play the Larimer Lounge on April 17. Tickets are on sale now. ($11-$13, )

The Pioneer Inn helps reinforce Nederland’s rep as an epicenter of progressive bluegrass and jam music. Tonight the venue hosts Oakhurst, with upcoming shows from Whitewater Ramble (Jan. 11), LYNX (Jan. 18) and Onda (Jan. 25). Tickets are on sale now. (various prices, )

Cowboy Mouth fans that missed the act’s recent two-night stint at the Bluebird Theater (were you washing your hair or something?) will get another chance when the band plays Colorado Springs’ Black Sheep on Feb. 29. Tickets are on sale now. ($20, TicketWeb)
