After a frigid start this morning, a warm up for the Denver area is on the way starting today.

Skies in Denver today are forecast to be mostly sunny with a high temperature of 41 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

By Saturday the high temperature in Denver could climb into the upper 50s, the weather service reports.

Today’s high temperatures throughout the state will be noticeably higher than recent highs except for some mountain valleys where frigid weather will linger.

The weather in the metro area will be sunny to mostly sunny through the week and weekend, the weather service said. Overnight lows should be in the teens tonight and in the 20s through the weekend.

Weather in the mountains should be dry today and tomorrow, with a slight chance of snow in Eagle County Thursday night.

The Vail forecast calls for a 40 percent chance of snow on Saturday with a high temperature of 37 degrees.

On Monday another cold front is expected to hit the state bringing with it a better chance of snow to the mountains and perhaps even some snow for northeastern Colorado, the weather service reports.
