VAIL, Colo.—A New York woman has denied threatening a Vail lift operator with an ice pick.

The Vail Daily reported that the Eagle County Sheriff’s office filed charges against Elena Adams after the alleged incident, December 27th.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Sara Cross said Adams wanted to get on the wrong side of the Vista Bahn to go down the mountain. Cross said there was an ice pick within reach.

Adams said she merely told lift operator Brock Grover that if a shovel fell on his head he would know how she feels. She said that because of a medical condition she suffers from she needed to get on the side normally used by skiers.

Adams also said that she fell as a result of the incident, suffering inflammation of the brain.

She is due in court February 20th.
