Adam Tanner scored 14 points and Nate Rohnert added 13, leading the host Denver Pioneers to a 54-40 win over Arkansas-Little Rock on Sunday.

However, the win may prove costly as senior forward David Kummer left the game midway through the second half with what Denver coach Joe Scott said was a broken right leg.

Denver (7-9, 3-2 Sun Belt) improved to 6-1 against the Trojans at Magness Arena.

“We worked really hard this week,” Scott said. “Tonight’s win was definitely a team effort. We’re trying to build a program, not just win games.”

It was the fewest points the Trojans (11-5, 3-2) have scored all season.

Denver was up 43-26 with 8:35 remaining when a UALR player rolled over the top of Kummer’s leg on a loose ball. Kummer was helped off the court and the leg was immobilized in a brace as he sat on the end of the bench.

Junior guard Andie Mason made a 3-pointer — her second of the game — with 1:29 remaining to bring the Pioneers within 44-41, but the Trojans’ Nikya Hughes sealed the win with a free throw in the final seconds.
