AURORA — Matthew James Watkins told police dispatchers he killed his wife Monday, several hours after the couple had been arguing, according to court documents.
Watkins made an initial court appearance Wednesday in the stabbing death of his wife, Cora, 31. Watkins is being held without bail in the Arapahoe County jail and faces a charge of first-degree murder.
According to an arrest document, Watkins, 39, told an officer while being transported to jail, “What have I done, what have I done. I’ve never hurt a soul. I just couldn’t stand being yelled at anymore.”
Police say Cora Watkins was stabbed multiple times.
