ODESSA, Neb.—The Nebraska State Patrol says a 14-year-old Colorado boy and his 4-year-old sister are dead after a weekend crash on Interstate 80 in Nebraska.
Authorities identified the two as Michael Betts and his sister, Cora Betts, of Littleton, Colorado.
Troopers were called to the scene of the crash Sunday night. Investigators say it appeared a minivan carrying a family of six and driven by the children’s father hit one of several deer crossing the interstate.
The van was then hit from behind by a truck pulling a car trailer, causing the minivan to roll.
The patrol says Michael and Cora died at the scene; four others in the van were taken to a Kearney hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators say all involved were wearing seat belts.
