Let’s get naked!

Just kidding, but be forewarned: CultureHaus, whose members would rather walk barefoot on hot coals than have their names associated with a nondescript party, is going all out for its 2008 banner event, the Art of Passion.

“Prepare for all five senses to be tantalized,” advises Darby Donohue, co-chair of the CultureHaus board. And by that he means: If rubber chicken and a leisure suited singer is what floats your boat, you might want to sit this one out.

“The Art of Passion,” promises fellow leader Kasia Iwaniczko, “will be the sexiest benefit of the Valentine season.”

Here’s some of what will be happening from 7-11 p.m. Saturday in the Denver Art Museum’s Ponti Hall:

The sense of taste will be stimulated by Nyataimori, the legendary “naked sushi” of Japanese origin. One female and one male will become human sushi bars for the night. There’ll also be an oyster bar, since the bivalves have long been thought to have aphrodisiac properties.

The area devoted to the sense of touch will feature massages and live figure painting.

There’s lots more, including the “Passion Pass,” a book of offers from the event sponsors, that each guest will receive, and a silent auction filled with theme-appropriate items ranging from spa packages to travel destinations.

Tickets, $35 for CultureHaus members and $45 for guests, are available at .A good hair day.

Hair, makeup and clothing that was a blend of hip and fantasy took center stage last weekend when the owners of Berenices celebrated the salon’s fifth anniversary by staging a benefit at La Rumba nightclub that helped the Women’s Bean Project and Food4Africa.

Along with outfits from Blu, Unity and Frolik on 32nd, models showed off the hair and makeup looks that clients can obtain at Berenices, 3500 E. 12th Ave. A preshow silent auction featured photographs by Lauren Garceau, items donated by Toms Shoes (a line started in 2006 by Blake Mycoskie, who for every pair sold donates a pair to a child in need), and African handicrafts from Tangerine.

“We’ve been incredibly fortunate with our business,” said co-owner Sara DeLuca, “and felt the best way to show our appreciation was to give back to the community, particularly to women and children in need.”
