Planets under stress. John Gray, best-selling author of the Mars versus Venus books, is at it again. Tonight, he’s in Boulder to sign and discuss his latest, “Why Mars and Venus Collide: Improving Relationships by Understanding How Men and Women Cope Differently With Stress.” 7:30 p.m., Boulder Book Store, 1107 Pearl St. (He’s at the Tattered Cover LoDo on Tuesday.)

Tread lightly. Sidewalks are fascinating, if you look hard enough. Artist Mike McClung did, and the result is “Watch Your Step: Sidewalks,” a photographic and lost-shoe installation that examines the everyday life of a sidewalk, from shadows, patterns and debris to the social, economic and emotional imprints left behind. Through March 23. 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, 6901 Wadsworth Blvd.

Tuesday. Writer and reporter Juan Williams narrates the documentary “Politics: The New Black Power,” about black politicians who secured the support of white voters. It’s part of a film series celebrating Black History Month at Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library, 2401 Welton St. 6:30 p.m. Free.
