GOLDEN, Colo.—The victim of a one-vehicle crash on state Highway C-470 in Jefferson County is being identified as a Denver resident.
The coroner and Colorado State Patrol say 39-year-old Judith Merrifield died in the accident Sunday night.
Investigators say she was eastbound on C-470 in a 2001 BMW when she failed to make a right-hand curve. The car went off the road and into the median where it hit a drainage gate, then flipped several times.
Merrifield was wearing a seat belt, but died at the scene.
Authorities say high speed is considered a possible factor in the crash.
