Nuggets center Marcus Camby is “shooting to play” on Wednesday in Denver’s important home game against Utah.

Camby missed the past two games with a left knee contusion.

“I hope (to play), my knee’s feeling a little better,” he said Tuesday. “But, like I always say, it’s going to be day-to-day, but hopefully I feel a little better to get out there tomorrow.”

The Nuggets (29-18) are one game behind the first-place Jazz 31-18) in the Northwest Division. The Jazz has won nine-straight games, including a 110-88 bludgeoning of New Orleans (32-15) on Monday.

Denver has won the past two games without Camby, notably Monday’s overtime win at Portland, another Northwest rival.

Camby is second in the NBA and first in the Western Conference with 14.3 rebounds per game. In Denver’s only other game against the Jazz, Camby scored eight points with 24 rebounds and 11 blocks in the Jan. 17 Denver victory.

“I want to play. I don’t want to sit out games,” Camby said. “I know how important I am to this team. I want to be held accountable for what’s going on out there. It doesn’t matter if it’s Utah, Clippers or whatever.”
