Post preps editor Neil H. Devlin sat down with six of the top football recruits in Colorado to get their thoughts on the recruiting process, which culminates today when they sign letters of intent.
If the state of Colorado had a senior in 2007 who had a national recruiting following of rock-star quality, Jon Major was playing lead guitar.
The linebacker at Ponderosa might as well have faced paparazzi when considering all the telephone calls, letters, e-mails, text messages, photo shoots and people approaching him and stating: “Hi, Jon, I’m . . .”
To his credit, Major, a shy sort who pays attention to detail, handled it well.
“It was a huge honor throughout the season,” Major said. “It was definitely very wild, but it helped me with my organizational skills.”
Linebackers, even big (6-feet-3, 230 pounds), fast ones such as Major, need to know their assignments. While Major ran past a few ball carriers in 2007, he rarely makes the same mistake twice. Wait until the future Buffalo really figures it out. He’s confident it will be soon in his collegiate career.
“One of the reasons I chose CU is to be a part of the rebuilding, and building the greatness,” Major said.
JON MAJOR

Offers left on the table: Had more than 50, notably Florida, Louisville, Michigan, Stanford and UCLA

Did you know? Not many linebackers know their way in the kitchen. Major’s an aspiring chef.
