The Border War rivalry will live on in four other sports, in addition to football, CSU announced Wednesday.
Annual contests between the Rams and Wyoming in men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball and soccer will begin eight-year series in their respective sports in 2028. The games will alternate home sites.
“The pride, passion and excitement our institutions, teams, fans and alumni feel whenever Colorado State and Wyoming play each other is second to none,” CSU director of athletics John Weber said in a news release. “Long-standing rivalries like ours with Wyoming are a cornerstone of college athletics. We are excited to continue the rivalry with Wyoming across all of these sports. It provides marquee matchups each year for these programs and is a win for everyone involved.”
The eight-year series with Wyoming follows a similar agreement announced last year with the Rans and Cowboys for football. While the agreement does not begin until 2028, Colorado State and Wyoming are set to play each other in all five sports in 2026 as well.
The Rams host Wyoming in football (Saturday), soccer (Sept. 17), men’s basketball (Dec. 11) and women’s basketball (Nov. 13). Meanwhile, CSU volleyball travels to Laramie on Sept. 12.
CSU and Wyoming are set to play in soccer, men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball in 2027. The two schools are working together to continue the football series in 2027 as well, following conference realignment, according to the release.
In men’s basketball women’s basketball and soccer, CSU will host in 2028, 2030, 2032 and 2034 while Wyoming will be the home team in 2029, 2031, 2033 and 2035. In volleyball, Wyoming will host in 2028, 2030, 2032 and 2024, while CSU will be the home team in 2029, 2031, 2033 and 2035.
Farokhmanesh completes staff
Some familiar faces are returning to the bench at Moby Arena.
CSU second-year head coach Ali Farokhmanesh has completed his 2026-2027 coaching staff with three assistants with previous ties to the team, he announced Wednesday.
Farokhmanesh’s is welcoming back Nico Carvacho as a graduate assistant, elevating Baylor Hebb to director of player personnel, and hiring former head manager Parker Teff as a graduate assistant.
“We pride ourselves on having a family atmosphere and culture within our program,” Farokhmanesh said in a release. “To have three young men who know the CSU way join our staff was an easy decision to make. I am excited for them to continue to grow in our program, just in a new way. These three guys are examples of what it means to be a part of the Ramily.”
Carvacho, Colorado State’s all-time leading rebounder, returns to Fort Collins after an impressive international basketball career playing in Bulgaria, Germany, Poland, Portugal and Israel while also representing his home country of Chile in FIBA competitions. Carvacho won two titles during his career, once with Rilski Sportist in Bulgaria, where he was also named the MVP of the Bulgarian Cup. He also won the Portuguese League championship with Benfica.
Hebb moves into a new role for the Rams as the director of player personnel. Last season, he was a graduate assistant for the Rams. Hebb played an important role in developing CSU’s younger players last season. The Colleyville, Texas, native spent two seasons at CSU, playing for the Rams from 2021-23.
Teff spent four years as a student manager for the Rams, including the past two as the head manager.
