Englewood police over the weekend arrested an elementary school staff member on charges of sexual assault.

Michael Patrick Willis, 36, has been charged with three counts of unlawful sexual conduct, according to Kathleen Walsh, director of communications for the 18th Judicial District. Each charge is a Class 4 felony and could result in a sentence of 2 to 6 years.

Willis, a staff member at Fox Creek Elementary in Highlands Ranch, was placed on administrative leave.

The school administration sent a letter to parents Monday addressing the incident. The letter states that the charges are unrelated to students at Fox Creek or events at the school.

Willis did not hold a teaching position at the school, said Larry Borland, chief security officer for Douglas County Schools. School officials declined to provide any further employment information.
