GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Investigators say a candle is to blame for a fire that broke out in a room of the Grand Vista Hotel in Grand Junction.
Authorities say the fire broke out Saturday when combustibles next to the candle caught fire.
The flames then spread to the nightstand, bed and floor.
One person was in the room at the time, but he escaped without injury.
Fire officials say the hotel’s sprinkler system helped keep the fire from spreading.
Damage is estimated at about $8,000.
