
The The 3-D debut of “Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert” brought in more money than any other movie has made during a Super Bowl weekend, with a whopping $31.1 million.
The concert film was supposed to run for one week only, but it was so popular that Disney, the distributor, decided to leave it in theaters until it runs its course.
The movie’s appeal goes beyond the big screen. The many fans of the teen singer who could not get tickets or could not afford tickets to her sold-out tour have a chance to experience the concert through the 3-D presentation.
The concert film features Disney superstar Cyrus performing both as her alter ego, Hannah, and as herself. Teen heartthrobs the Jonas Brothers also make an appearance during the show.
The original announcement that it would be in limited run caused huge lines at movie theaters the first weekend, so Disney’s decision to leave it in theaters will please kids and their parents.
