
Mostly cloudy skies will bring a chance of snow showers to Denver today, but accumulation will probably be less than half an inch.
Scattered snow showers — a 30 percent chance — should hit Denver sometime after 2 p.m., and the high temperature should be about 39 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
Winds could stir up snow today, causing possible problems for drivers and pedestrians.
The National Weather Service has issued a high-wind watch for the northern mountains and northeastern Colorado through tomorrow afternoon.
Strong winds will be possible through the metro corridor, with some gusts to 80 mph in the foothills, the weather service reports.
Snow is falling in the high country and on the Western Slope this afternoon, with heavy amounts hitting the northern mountains in and around Steamboat Springs, according to the weather service.
Snow in Steamboat this morning was falling at a rate of about 2 inches an hour, the weather service said.
Snow swept through Grand Junction at about noon today, and the Interstate 70 corridor through the central mountains should get snow through the early afternoon before it tappers off.
On and off snow, sometimes heavy, will continue in the northern mountains through Friday, the weather service said.
Snow showers in Denver today should end by about 8 p.m., and tonight’s overnight low should be about 15 degrees, the weather service reports.
Thursday morning, skies will be mostly cloudy in Denver but gradual clearing is expected, and the high temperature should climb to about 47 degrees.
Periods of snow are likely in parts of the Colorado mountains through Friday, including the Vail area, but skies are likely to be sunny and dry statewide by Saturday.
