PUEBLO, Colo.—Authorities say one person is dead and three others—including a state trooper—are injured after semitrailer crashed into the back of a patrol car parked on Interstate 25 near here.
Master trooper Ron Watkins said the trooper and two others were taking shelter from bad weather in the patrol car after a previous accident when the truck ran into the car at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Both the trooper and the other surviving passenger in the patrol car were airlifted to a nearby hospital. The driver of the truck was also taken to a hospital.
The accident closed several lanes of the highway between Walsenburg and Trinidad.
