Attorney General John Suthers wants to rescue Coloradans fed up with the “relentless onslaught” of robo-calls.
Suthers said he is spearheading legislation that would ban most automated calls in the state. Senate Bill 146 was introduced Wednesday at the Capitol by Sen. Paula Sandoval, D-Denver, and Rep. Larry Liston, R-Colorado Springs.
“Robo-calls generate more complaints than any other issue, as most people are very annoyed and consider them an invasion of privacy,” Suthers said.
The attorney general’s office receives hundreds of complaints each year about robo-calls, and Suthers predicted that this election season will make it worse.
The legislation would ban robo-calls, except for those made by schools, public-safety organizations or when a citizen has given prior consent to receive such calls.
