Wyoming welcomed 25 football recruits to its program Wednesday, and several had only to hop the fence to get there. Nearly a third are from Colorado and two, Chance Crawford and Trevor Shaw, hail from Fort Collins, home of rival Colorado State.
“It says a little bit about our program that we can go into their home state and take out some Division I football players,” coach Joe Glenn said of rival CSU, which is going through a coaching transition.
Eight Coloradans signed with Wyoming. The rest of the recruits were dispersed among 11 states.
The Cowboys signed just one Wyoming native, Jim Downs, a 6-foot-7 offensive lineman from Glenrock who was rated the No. 1 recruit in the state.
Recruits expected to impact the Cowboys in the near future include a pair of quarterbacks in Dax Crum, a junior college transfer from Mesa Community College, and Adam Barry, from Moorpark High School in Simi Valley, Calif., and a set of tight ends in Orlando Arnold from Contra Costa Community College in Richmond, Calif., and Brandon Ribble from Ralston Valley in Arvada.
