Did you have a good weekend? Two of the state’s men’s college basketball teams certainly did.

In a season in which only Air Force (12-10) is above .500 among five NCAA Division I schools (Denver Post hoops writer John Henderson called it the “backwater college basketball state that is Colorado” in his Sunday story on page 1C), the University of Colorado and Denver both celebrated victories.

On Saturday, CU defeated visiting Oklahoma 72-58 to end a six-game losing streak.

Sunday, first-year DU coach Joe Scott posted his 100th career victory, 63-44 over Louisiana- Lafayette.

Not that Scott, in his eighth season as a head coach with previous stops at Air Force and Princeton, knew about it.

“I knew I was sitting around there, but I stop keeping track as the games become more important,” Scott told The Associated Press.

And important it was, as DU (11-12, 7-5 Sun Belt Conference) moved back into a tie for first in the West Division, joining Arkansas-Little Rock.
