GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.—The Bureau of Land Management plans to reseed scorched terrain near Canyon Creek damaged by a wildfire last summer.
The blaze burned near the Storm Mountain site where a fire claimed 14 lives in 1994.
Carla DeYoung, ecologist for the local BLM office, told the Glenwood Post-Independent that once the heavy snow melts it should provide fertile ground for the new seed.
She said a tanker will drop 13,000 pounds of native grass seeds on a 445 acres of the 1,240 acres that were burned.
