Metro-area residents can look toward the mountains today if they want to see a sheet of snow bathed in bright sunshine.

Denver will be mostly cloudy and mild, but skies throughout most of the state should be clear, said National Weather Service meteorologist Jim Kalina.

“We have got these wave-type clouds right over our area, but pretty much the rest of the state is mostly sunny,” Kalina said.

Temperatures in the metro area will be 45 to 50 degrees today, dropping to the 20s tonight.

Denver’s western suburbs could see some snow showers early Monday morning.

Clouds will continue to blanket the metro area through Monday, and there could be some rain showers but temperatures should stay in the 40s.

Except for a small amount of new snow in the northern and central mountains overnight, the state is expected to experience little precipitation.
