TOKYO — Japanese police have arrested a U.S. Marine accused of raping a 14-year-old girl in southern Japan, an official said.
Tyrone Luther Hadnott, 38, of Camp Courtney in Okinawa, was arrested Sunday, a police official said on condition of anonymity, citing policy.
Okinawa police took custody of the Marine for investigation, the official said. Hadnott’s hometown was not immediately available.
Officials of U.S. Forces in Japan could not immediately confirm the case.
Under a mutual security pact, the U.S. has about 50,000 troops deployed across Japan.
