Getting your player ready...

This is a Boulder football event where the fans are supposed to get rowdy. And it could earn the University of Colorado a cool $1 million.

The Buffs host the Gridiron Bash on April 18, the afternoon and night before the spring game. Counting Crows will perform at Folsom Field.

Boulder is one of 20 colleges to be in the pep-off. The winner of the $1 million will be decided by attendance and text message votes (of course).

Fox Sports Net Rocky Mountain will broadcast the parties from around the country the next day — to see which fans are the wildest. Performers playing at other football fields include Fergie, Kelly Clarkson, Maroon 5 and the Goo Goo Dolls.

Too bad they couldn’t hold this contest at the Rocky Mountain Showdown. $41 tix at .

Man at his best.

The new Esquire almost looks like a Best of Colorado issue. It salutes both Andrisen Morton and Lawrence Covell for setting “The Gold Standard” for men’s stores.

In a lavish feature on the sandwich, Jimmy and Drew’s in Boulder gets the nod for its Reuben that swaps rye for “schmaltz-fried latkes the size of your hubcaps.”

Director Barry Sonnenfeld (“Men in Black”) says he always gets his boots and cowboy hats from Bounty Hunter in Telluride.

And listen to this shout out to Denver band DeVotchKa’s new album, following its breakout soundtrack to “Little Miss Sunshine.”

“The results are huge indie-rock anthems and lute-driven ballads defined by infallible melodies, heartbreaking arrangements, and dark, funny lyrics. . . . It leaves you wondering whether to weep or dance.”

BTW, DeVotchKa violinist Tom Hagerman plays between Hazel Miller’s sets at the Shining Stars Foundation’s Leap Around the World Snowball Feb. 29 at the Colorado History Museum. Call 970-726-8009.

Ooo La La.

La La Vasquez is pictured in Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit issue — but she’s not on the beach.

In a section featuring four players’ “Better Halves,” Carmelo Anthony’s fiancee faces the camera in the studio, arms akimbo.

“I did this shoot four months after I had my baby,” she tells SI. “I loved it. It was good to get comfortable with where my body was after my pregnancy.”

City spirit.

Allen Iverson left the Riverfront neighborhood for Cherry Hills — and a week later Troy Tulowitzki signed a six-year, $31 million contract with the Rockies and immediately bought the penthouse in the nearby Glass House . . .
