DEER TRAIL — Two Kansas sisters hospitalized after a crash on Interstate 70 killed three relatives have had their medical conditions upgraded, according to a Swedish Medical Center spokeswoman.
Fifteen-year-old Alyssa Schoenwald improved to serious condition. Her twin sister, Avery, improved to fair. Mother Janelle Schoenwald, 46, remained in fair condition Sunday.
The Wichita family was headed westward to the mountains when their van slammed into the back of a vehicle near Deer Trail and then was struck by a tractor-trailer.
Alan “Ken” Schoenwald, 46, was killed along with his 18-year-old daughter, Jennalea, and the couple’s son, Jace, 13.
