Thornton police are searching for a man who shot and killed his downstairs neighbors, ending an ongoing feud that had lasted since at least July, officials say.
Lance Leroy McDermed, 36, had a history of harassing the 41-year-old female victim, who filed a complaint against him in July, a police spokesman said.
McDermed rang the married couple’s doorbell around 6:40 p.m. Saturday and shot them as they answered the door, according to police reports.
Police describe McDermed as a 5-foot-10-inches tall white man with short-cropped hair. He weighs about 230 pounds and is considered armed and dangerous.
He drives a four-door, maroon 1984 Chevrolet Cavalier with the license plate 884NWT, police say.
The victims, who lived below him at 9122 Gale Blvd., were identified as Vera and Marco Escobedo.
The woman and her 44-year-old husband died at the scene.
Inside the home were a brother-in-law and his two young sons, ages 2 and 4. None was injured.
