Two 26-year-old men found dead in a parking lot Saturday afternoon had been missing for more than a week and most likely died of carbon monoxide poisoning, Castle Rock police said Sunday.

Neither the city nor the Douglas County coroner’s office has identified the men found in the garage at the Pines at the apartment complex in the 2220 Castlegate Drive North in Castle Rock.

The father of one of the men found them in the cab of pickup after both men’s families had not seen them in more than a week, police said.

The case was still under investigation Sunday afternoon.
