Tyler Hamilton, the Boulder cyclist who served a two-year ban for doping, is training on these stages with his new U.S.-based team, Rock Racing, formed by fashion designer Michael Ball.

Hamilton signed with Rock Racing in December along with two other cyclists coming off doping bans: Santiago Botero and Oscar Sevilla. They were set to race in the Tour of California until UCI, cycling’s international governing body, sent a letter to the Tour citing a clause that does not allow any riders who are under suspicion. The three riders have been mentioned in Operacion Puerto, the Spanish doping scandal. The investigation reopened last week.
