Hot brakes slowed the evening commute for thousands who take the RTD Light Rail south today.
Just after 5 p.m. a train pulled into the station at Interstate 25 and Broadway with an overheated brake that was giving off smoke, but never blazed, said RTD spokesman Scott Reed.
As a precaution, RTD benched the hobbled car. It took crews about 20 minutes to move out of the way, causing a backlog of commuters, he said.
More than 55,700 people a day right the Light Rail, boarding at 36 stations.
