Your clue was:
“From what we understand, one of these songless actors was letter-perfect.”

Our winner: The unbeatable Jeremy Cole was first to deduce that this was Annie Gavin and El Armstrong in “I Never Sang for My Father” – but, he wrote, “I can’t remember if it was Town Hall Arts Center or Main Street Players at Town Hall Arts Center.

“This was before they cornered all the Southwest suburbs by taking up residence at Morrison Theatre Company. I’m guessing around 1994 or so.”

Oddly I couldn’t find anything written about this staging to answer Jeremy’s question, though I did stumble across a production of the Morrison Theatre Company’s “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” which starred El as McMurphy and Annie as Nurse Ratched (Christian Mast played Billy Bibbit).

The “letter-perfect” part of the clue was in reference to El’s unusual first name. Of course now you see his name all over the place as one of our most respected sound designers.
