Your clue was: “No, that’s not Walter Matthau reprising “The Odd Couple.” But he kinda looks like him, no?”
Our winner: The unbeatable Jeremy Cole was first to recognize “a couple of Pat M’s” — Pat Mahoney and Patricia Madsen in “The Oldest Living Graduate” at the Rivertree Theatre (then the Phoenix Theatre, now Theatre Off-Broadway).
Writes Jeremy: The title character was played by Ray Kemble (perhaps his finest hour) and it was directed by the late Sam Dodero. I’m still waiting for my prize. Isn’t there an Ovation Award for this?”
If he keeps going at this rate, maybe there will be!
The lame clue I gave was in reference to Mahoney’s triking resemblance to the original Grumpy Old Man. “The Oldest Living Graduate” is the final play in “A Rexas Trilogy” by Preston Jones. Photo by R. Greenquist. Exact date indeterminate.
