DENVER—Mayor John Hickenlooper declared the Democratic National Convention “an extroardinary event” meaning greater than normal efforts for those seeking permits and licenses to use city property.
People can start applying for permits on Monday. Applications will be accepted until March 14.
The Democratic National Convention will be held in Denver from August 25th through August 28th.
Two anti-abortion groups threatened to sue the city last week because of a delay in granting protest permits. The new permit process includes procedures for any events planned in parks and streets as well as liquor permits. Competing requests will be solved by using a lottery process.
