Snow business
Strapping on a pair of snowshoes and going for a multimile trek is a way to burn calories and soak up some Colorado sunshine. It also can be a charitable act, if you are among the hundreds expected to take part in the seventh annual Tubbs’ Romp to Stomp Out Breast Cancer Saturday at the Frisco Nordic Center. Registration opens at 7 a.m., a pancake breakfast follows at 8, the 3K fun race begins at 9 a.m. and the 3K and 5K benefit walk is at 9:30 a.m. Registration is $25 in advance and $30 the day of the event. Money raised goes to the Denver affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Details at or 800-882-2748.
All-weather gear
It’s getting to be that in-between season when a parka can be waterproof but too bulky, and a spring weight jacket doesn’t have the stuff to keep you dry and warm. Nike’s new Storm-FIT 5 fabric creates a protective barrier from rain, snow and wind, while being “breathable,” so that moisture can escape. The Nike ACG men’s Chief Creek Rain Jacket, $95, comes in four colors at Dick’s Sporting Goods stores and dickssporting .
Double duty
Staying hydrated just got easier with the Swigz dual-chamber water bottle. With two chambers that hold a total of 24 ounces, you can pour water in one side and an energy drink, protein boost or sports beverage in the other. It has a color-coded top so you know what you’re drinking and fits into a standard bottle cage on your bike; $14.95 at .
