ARVADA — Developers of the Candelas project have withdrawn a request to allow 85-foot-high buildings on 5 acres west of Colorado 93.
But buildings would soar more than 10 stories on several parcels of the 1,500-acre Candelas mixed-use development east of the highway, according to the developers’ plans.
Exceptions to the city’s 35-foot building height limit are part of Candelas’ updated development plan approved in January by the planning commission. But city staff members recommended against the height exception for the 5-acre site, which is southwest of the intersection of Colorado 93 and Colorado 72. Exceptions are still sought to permit buildings ranging from 45 feet to 180 feet in the Town Center west of Welton Reservoir.
