A steel frame being erected to support a combination aircraft hangar and office building at Centennial Airport collapsed today.

A construction crew was placing the sixth of seven box-like steel girders on a concrete slab when supports that were already in place began to fall, said South Metro Fire Rescue spokesman Andy Lyon.

Twenty-five construction workers were at the site, but no one was hurt. “They tell me that it happened in kind of slow motion, so they were able to get out of the way,” Lyon said.

The cause of the accident is not yet known.

CMC Construction Services was building the hangar for Tac Air, a company that provides aviation services.
