Helio Sequence played a handful of Colorado dates around New Year’s Eve with Mary Timony Band and others, but we’ll get another chance to check out the duo’s shimmering, excellent new disc, “Keep Your Eyes Ahead” on Tuesday at the Larimer Lounge. Other solid acts also playing there soon: A Place to Bury Strangers (tonight), Panther (Sunday), Travis Morrison Hellfighters (Wednesday).
British Sea Power, like some other indie rockers (including several mentioned above), will hit the Front Range this week on its way to Austin, Texas, for the annual South by Southwest music festival. The U.K. group plays the Hi-Dive on Saturday with Colourmusic and Rabbit is a Sphere. hi-dive.com.
Monotix makes the case for catching its live set with a spate of YouTube videos showing them tearing up stages and crowds around the U.S. The Israeli band plays Monday at Rhinoceropolis with Mister Sister and Bongo Fury.
Hate Camels’ jazzy, weird “Death Comedy Jams” suite pays tribute to deceased comedians Mitch Hedberg, Richard Pryor, Lenny Bruce, Bill Hicks and others. Thursday at Dazzle.
