Way up in the North Platte Basin, snowpack is running about 111 percent of average. You’d best take advantage of itand the nearly full moon March 21 — during an evening ski and snowshoe trip around the 6.5 mile Gould Loop at State Forest State Park.
Bring your own fuel, or fill up on bratwurst, cocoa and hot cider. The Full Moon Open House runs 4 to 9 p.m.
The State Forest will also add the Talon trackable geocoin to the Land of Hidden Treasures cache during the open house. The Land of Hidden Treasures cache is one of nine in the park. Its GPS coordinates are N 40 30.698 and W 106 00.615 — but you’ll need to solve a riddle to unlock the cache and potentially find the new Talon coin. The clues can be found at the Moose Visitor Center, on Colorado 14 near Gould.
