HELENA, Mont.—For the first time ever, three women have been chosen to share the Big Sky Conference women’s basketball player of the week award, the league said Monday.
Portland State point guard Claire Faucher, Northern Colorado center Danielle Hagen and Idaho State center Natalie Doma share the final honor of the 2007-08 season.
Faucher, a sophomore from Yakima, Wash., averaged 19.5 points, 10 assists, 8.5 rebounds and four steals per game as the Vikings beat league-leading Montana and fell to Montana State. She also broke the Big Sky’s single-season assist record with 257.
On Saturday, Faucher posted the conference’s only triple-double this season, recording 21 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists as the Vikings downed Montana.
Hagen, a senior from Sidney, Mont., helped Northern Colorado secure the No. 5 seed to its first-ever Big Sky championship tournament. She posted back-to-back double-doubles while averaging 17.5 points and 14.5 rebounds per game as the Bears picked up wins over Northern Arizona and Sacramento State.
Doma, a senior from Victoria, British Columbia, helped the Bengals beat Weber State on Saturday to lock in as the No. 2 seed for the upcoming Big Sky tournament. She scored 32 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in the win. Doma also went 12 of 19 from field-goal range and eight of eight from the free-throw line.
