The Giraffes have secured a certain, shall we say, unpredictable reputation when stopping through Denver. The snarling, pulsating Brooklyn rock act will lovingly slap our city following shows at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, and in Kansas. If you’ve seen them before, you know you are missing this one at your own peril. And if you’re a newcomer, well — there’s peril involved there, too. Monday at the Larimer Lounge, with Black Lamb, Love Me Destroyer and Workhorse.

DeVotchKa’s promotional and touring commitments mean the eclectic Denver act will be around for only a couple of local appearances this season, including a Tuesday in-store at Twist & Shout and a Thursday “etown” taping at the Boulder Theater with Au Revoir Simone. Don’t miss the chance to catch them before they hit the long and winding road.

Los Lunaticos and De Bajo Del Agua will take over the Mercury Cafe on Saturday night with their bachata, reggaeton and Latin-jazz-flavored tunes — incidentally, the same day the cafe celebrates 33 years on the scene (although not always at its current downtown location). Visit for more information.
