Danowsky offers a few other ideas for eating healthier:

Buy fresh produce. When you get home from the grocery store, cut celery, carrots, cucumbers and other vegetables and store them in the fridge. The next time you head to the office or run errands, throw some vegetables in a plastic bag, and you’ll have something to munch on later. No more 4 p.m. trips to the vending machine or drive-through lane at the fast- food restaurant.

Don’t reserve vegetables for your evening meal. Saute or steam them and add to eggs for your breakfast.

Eat often. Get in the habit of having five to six small meals a day to avoid sudden rises and drops in your blood sugar. If you go too long without eating, you tend to overeat. “Keep the fire burning all day, rather than igniting it every six hours,” Danowsky says.
