A man who shot himself in the head in the parking lot of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has died.
Authorities expect to release the victim’s name later today, said Jacki Kelley, a sheriff’s spokeswoman.
The incident happened Monday at about 2:35 p.m. outside the sheriff’s administrative offices in Golden.
The man was taken to a local hospital where he died.
Kelley said there is no known connection between the victim and the sheriff’s office.
A handgun was recovered at the scene. Investigators believe a single shot was fired.
