GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A remembrance ceremony is planned Saturday for two Mesa State College students killed in a drunken-driving crash.
Nineteen-year-olds Jacob Brock of Eagle and Jennifer Kois of Brighton were killed March 22nd, 2007, when their vehicle was hit from behind on Interstate 70 near Clifton.
Authorities said the man who hit their small car, former police officer Patrick Strawmatt of Westminster, was driving more than 100 miles-per-hour and had more than three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
Strawmatt was sentenced to 72 years in prison.
Associated Student Government president Adam Davenport says a former student government member came up with the idea to have a ceremony on the crash anniversary, and the victims’ families approved.
