Forgiving fridge
Those of us who can’t remember anything without writing it down, and families with especially artistic kids, should check out the Amana Jot, a new refrigerator with dry-erase doors. Its finish comes in handy for messages, appointments, pictures and tick-tack-toe. $549; Find stores at or call 800-843-0304.
“Best in Show” is back
For the second year in a row, Mod Livin’ is sponsoring a design event to benefit the Denver Animal Care Foundation, an organization that helps low-income Coloradans cover emergency vet bills. The store’s “Best in Show” fundraiser challenges local businesses and individuals to embellish one of Eero Aarnio collectible puppies. The deco dogs are on display at the store until March 27; shoppers are invited to vote for their favorite. On March 28, the dogs will be auctioned off during a catered party at Mod Livin’. The event is free and open to the public. More at .

Sew chic
These days, all the cool kids are crafting, and such DIY mavens as Diana Rupp are leading the way. Rupp founded and runs the Make Workshop in New York City, a hip Lower East Side craft school, and wrote “Sew Everything Workshop” (Workman, $26.95), a fun manual that includes instructions for “cuddle up cardigans” and “foxy boxers.” She visits Denver this weekend: From 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Rupp will lead a free class in the making of Sew Very Pretty greeting cards at Fancy Tiger (1 S. Broadway, 303-733-3855), and from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, she’ll sign books and teach greeting card craft again at the Tattered Cover Book Store (2526 E. Colfax Ave., 303-322-7727).
