A Wheat Ridge police officer’s car caught on fire Tuesday night as the officer was on a patrol.
The incident happened at about 8 p.m. near W. 29th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard, said Lisa Stigall, a police spokeswoman.
The fire started in the trunk of the cruiser, a brand new police vehicle, Stigall said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The officer, who was not identified, was taken to a local hospital where she was treated for slight smoke inhalation and released, Stigall said.
